Description for Candidates:

  • Edit and maintain critical enterprise data. Produce accurate, high quality cartographic products. Collect, interpret, and preserve digital information, verify thoroughness and accuracy, and provide a meaningful, attractive, and graphic expression. Point of customer contact for graphic, spatial and cartographic inquiries.

    How you will contribute:
  • Automated Cartography: Design and draw new digital map files for clean, legible, error-free final products. Plan, develop, and maintain cartographic products using GIS (ERSI), Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and CADD (MicroStation), map publishing, and Windows and Office Suite software.
  • File Management: Update GIS, Adobe Illustrator and CADD files for network level base maps and transfer data between different software environments in a shared network. Move GIS data into and out of coverage libraries, convert GIS and CADD and Adobe format files and vector to raster files.
  • Pre-Publication Map Revision: Edit and proof maps and files. Convert maps to meet ADA requirements for external customers using Adobe Suite.
  • Work Unit Support: Respond to inquiries and requests. Support maintenance of map inventor and data. Support maintenance of cartography section work environment. Participate in process development and improvement. Perform administrative recordkeeping and reporting.

  • Ability to overcome hardware and software problems.
  • Knowledge of the stages of high-quality map printing and publishing.
  • Knowledge of tools and techniques for creating, editing, and using extensive, high-quality, accurate and detailed GIS, CADD, and Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign suite databases for cartographic production.
  • Skill in the use of computer hardware and software applications to include Adobe Suite, GIS, CADD, cartographic publishing, and office automation.

  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • Additional Considerations:
  • A combination of training, experience, or education in Cartography-Geography, Computer Science or related field desired.
  • Adobe Suite, GIS, CADD or programming certification.
  • Professional level experience in cartography and Graphic Design.
  • Working knowledge of ESRI GIS products, Adobe Suite, MicroStation CADD software, map publishing software, and Microsoft Windows NT.
