Description for Candidates:

  • The purpose of the position is to participate in performing financial, compliance, operational, program, or computer application system audits in order to assure accuracy and adequacy of financial and accounting systems, adherence to legislative requirements and administrative policies, operational efficiency, and program effectiveness. For larger, more difficult audits, work is performed as an audit team member under the leadership and guidance of senior level auditors. More limited and less complex audits are performed individually, but under close supervision. Occasionally, complex audits will be assigned for professional development; these are performed under close supervision. The primary product for this position is comprehensive work papers. The purpose of the position is to plan and conduct complex financial, compliance, operational, program, and or computer application system audits in order to assure accuracy and adequacy of financial and accounting systems, adherence to legislative requirements and administrative policies, operational efficiency, and program effectiveness. Serves as auditor-in-charge of audits, leading other auditors assigned to the audit. Conducts special fraud investigations. The primary product for this position is comprehensive workpapers and draft reports.

    How you will contribute:
  • Audit Procedures: Conducts audits and prepare reports as outlined in the audit program.

  • Audit Reporting: Prepared audit reports of quality in accordance with divisional standards prior to the approval by the senior manager.
  • Corrective Action Plans: Monitors corrective action of quality in accordance with divisional standards.

  • Program Guidelines: Develops audit programs that outline audit procedures to be followed in gathering sufficient, competent, relevant, useful mater in accordance with divisional standards.
  • Quality Surveys: Conduct surveys and develop audit programs in accordance with divisional standards prior to the approval by the senior manager.
  • Quality Surveys: Conduct surveys of quality in accordance with divisional standards, reviewing existing policies and procedures, regulations, and laws, interviewing, and documenting procedures.

  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to promote development of innovative audit processes, programs, etc. to meet changing needs.
  • Ability to review a function, area, or situation and formulate applicable audit procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and on a team, and provide assistance in the training of other audit staff.
  • Experience interpreting and applying regulations to various types of complex or unusual audits and reviews.
  • Progressively responsible experience analyzing complex and unusual financial and other business data to propose resolutions to issues.
  • Progressively responsible experience applying GAAP, GAAS, FHWA and FAR.
  • Skill in the use of computers and software applications.

  • Additional Considerations:
  • A combination of training, experience, or education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field desired.
  • CPA, CIA, CFE, CGFM, CGAP or equivalent certification desired.
  • Experience conducting audits of federal and state government contracts.
  • Experience with Teammate auditing software desired.
  • Progressively responsible experience conducting complex or unusual audits of federal and state government contracts.
