Job Description

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Business Systems / Data Engineer, this position will be responsible for:
• Supporting the day-to-day management and maintenance of data and processes in systems such as CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems), IWMS (Integrated Workplace Management Systems), or EAM (Enterprise Asset Management) platforms.
• Collect, input, and validate data related to asset inventories, maintenance schedules, work orders, and equipment performance.
• Assist in generating reports and dashboards to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to facilities operations and maintenance.
• Analyze trends in maintenance and asset performance data to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
• Collaborate with facilities staff, technicians, administrative and IT teams to ensure data consistency and system usability.
• Support data audits, reconciliations, and updates to ensure information and system integrity.
• Develop and document business processes, standard operating procedures and data entry guidelines.
• Provide end-user support and training on data systems and reporting tools.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Data Analytics, Facilities Management, Engineering, Business or equivalent related experience
• Experience in a data & process intensive role, preferably in a facilities, engineering, or asset-intensive environment.
• Familiarity with CMMS, IWMS, or EAM systems (e.g., AssetWorks, Maximo, Archibus, or similar).
• Strong proficiency in Excel; experience with data management and reporting is desirable.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SQL or BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
• Advanced Excel skills including pivot table development and advanced lookup functions.
• Experience with system administration.
• Experience in Facilities Management working with enterprise wide management systems.
• Awareness of Virginia TechFacilities processes and procedures
