Job Description

We’re searching for a Residential College Program Coordinator to join the Living-Learning Programs team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. The Program Coordinator serves alongside a live-in faculty principal and plays a critical role ensuring that peer, administrative, and faculty relationships are cultivated and sustained throughout a residential college/living-learning program. So, if you are committed to cultivate relationships among faculty and students to ensure students are engaged, supported, and thriving, then please keep reading.

When was the last time you changed the world? In Virginia Tech’s Division of Student Affairs, that’s what we’re doing every day—guiding, nurturing, and supporting students as they learn and grow into the leaders and world-changers of today and tomorrow.

Virginia Tech is currently home to three residential colleges: the Honors Residential Commons, Leadership and Social Change Residential College, and Residential College at West Ambler Johnston. In Fall 2021, we opened the Creativity & Innovation District Living Learning Community, which merges elements of the residential college and living-learning community models – a first of its kind nationally. Living-Learning Programs at Virginia Tech are ranked 17th in Learning Communities in the United States by US News & World Report. Our current opening is for the Leadership and Social Change Residential College.

Here’s what you need to know about the role:

1) You’ll join the Office of Living-Learning Programs team; a department that works to support intentional living-learning programs efforts for more than 5,000 students.

2) You’ll report to an Assistant Director, in a Regular twelve-month, 100% Administrative Professional appointment.

3) This position lives in the residential college (in a 2-bedroom apartment). It assists the faculty principal (a live-in faculty member charged with providing direction to the college) to ensure their programmatic efforts enhance the intellectual climate of the college, focus on individual student engagement and support through connection to campus resources; supervise a select group of student leaders to increase student connection and engagement with the residential college. This will include some evening or weekend responsibilities. Other duties may include direct collaboration to achieve the vision, mission, and strategic goals of Living-Learning Programs.

4) You’ll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.

5) You’ll be offered a base compensation package of $45,000 - 46,000 with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!
