General Information:
JMU Parking and Transit Services is seeking students for part-time employment in its enforcement and special events programs. Student employees are expected to work a minimum of 8 hours per week but may work a maximum of 20 hours per week if they choose.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Patrol campus and issue citations to vehicles parked in violation of JMUs parking regulations.
- Participate in parking operations for campus special events.
- Assist visitors with directions and general campus information.
Qualifications:
- Comfortable interacting with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
- Capable of working efficiently without direct supervision.
- Able to work outdoors, on foot, in a variety of weather conditions.
- Flexibility to work alone, or to divide responsibilities with a partner or team.
Additional Posting Information:
- Students set their own schedule in 2-hour increments, with the exception of occasional mandatory special events.
- As a condition of employment, students are expected to return to campus early to assist in move-in operations at the beginning of the academic year and to remain on campus at the end of the year to work move-out and graduation. Special arrangements are made for students living on campus to arrive early and remain after exams.
- Regular hours are available from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Monday- Thursday, 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM Friday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM Saturday.
Conditions of Employment:
Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
