Hiring Range: Adjunct faculty are paid a per credit hour rate. The per credit hour rate is determined by the assigned rank and discipline taught. Assigned rank is determined by both education and teaching experience

Full Time or Part Time: Part Time

Additional Detail

• Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
• Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
• Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of NOVA and the VCCS.
• Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.

• Ability to teach courses in Administration of Justice
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Exellent analytical skills
• Excellent oral/written communication skills
• The ability to relate basic principles of ADJ to students
• Ability to use instructional technology

• Master’s degree in the teaching field or master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours of coursework in the teaching field. Qualifying degrees and/or coursework can include (but is not necessarily limited to) administration of justice, criminal justice, law, forensic science, homeland security, security management, etc.
• Qualifying academic degrees and coursework must be awarded by and/or completed with a regionally accredited institution.
• A minimum of two years of full-time, related occupational experience. Part-time occupational experience will be converted to its full-time equivalent.

• Prior experience teaching in higher education
• Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats.
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive working and learning environment.
• Experience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency.
