Hiring Range: Starting salary is commensurate as based on assigned instructor level, education, and experience.

Additional Detail

• Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
• Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
• Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of NOVA and the VCCS.
• Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.

• Master’s degree or higher in one or more of the following or in a closely related field: Cinema, and Film Studies from an accredited college or university

• MFA in Cinema (Film)
• Teaching experience in Cinema and Film Studies at the college level
• Graduate credits in Cinematography
• Produced short or feature-length films
• Prior experience teaching in higher education
• Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats.
• Experience in teaching at the community college level
• Evidence of professional cinema-related work including, but not limited to short and feature films, commercials, professional music, educational or informational videos
• Experience in cinema production instruction, curriculum development for cinema courses and/or degree program, development of pedagogy to improve student Cinema production skills/instruction
• Experience in securing and maintaining working connections with professionals in the Cinema and media industries
• Evidence of understanding the needs of a diverse population at the community college.
