The Business Essentials Unit in the School of Business at Virginia Commonwealth University is recruiting a pool of applicants for adjunct faculty positions for the 2022-2023 academic year. Should funding for such adjunct teaching positions become available, the Undergraduate Studies Office will contact persons in the pool whose credentials match our teaching needs. This pool will be accessed only when an opening arises. This posting will remain active until June 30, 2023. After June 30, 2023, you will need to reapply to the updated posting if you would like to remain in the adjunct pool. Note that we are unable to hire applicants who are not already in the pool.
We seek candidates for the adjunct instructor pool to teach in person, hybrid, and/or online sections of BUSN 201: Foundations of Business and/or BUSN 205: Introduction to the World of Business. BUSN 201 is a required course for sophomore business majors. BUSN 205 is a general education course suitable for freshman or sophomores and open to all students at the university.
Duties and Responsibilities: As an Adjunct Instructor in the Business Essentials Unit in the School of Business, you will help support the School of Business's strategic plan that focuses on creativity in the curriculum.
Instructors will be expected to hold regular online office hours.
Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in Business or related field. Teaching experience, higher education. 5+ years of work in business. Strong written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated experience or interest in teaching and collaborating with diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated excellence in teaching courses with high enrollment (150-200 students) in higher education. Experience with Canvas or other Learning management system. International business experience for BUSN 205 candidates.
