Join Southside Virginia Community College in preparing students for advanced mathematical success through MTH 162: PreCalculus II This is a Passport and UCGS transfer course that presents trigonometry and its various applications. The successful candidate must be committed to SVCC’s mission to provide high-quality education to the Southside Virginia community.

Applications will be received, reviewed, and considered continuously until needed positions are filled.

Course Content & Specific Duties:

• Trigonometric functions
• Analytic trigonometry
• Applications of trigonometry
• Conics
• Develop and maintain high-quality course materials aligned with college standards and learning outcomes.
• Maintain engagement through the college’s Canvas Learning Management System (LMS)
• Monitor and document class attendance in compliance with college policies, maintaining accurate records and communicating with students and necessary departments as needed to support academic success

• Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics from a regionally accredited institution
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams
• Ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments
• Ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds
• Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the community college and student success
  
  

• Teaching experience at the college level, specifically with face-to-face and online/hybrid modalities.
• Competency using instructional technologies such as SMART boards, Zoom and Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
• Experience working with community college students.
• Demonstrated commitment to student engagement and academic success.
