The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Cardiology at the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine seeks applicants for an Intermediate Administrative Assistant to perform clerical and administrative work. The selected applicant will join a team of Administrative Assistant’s supporting the Pediatric Cardiology, Endocrinology, Infectious Diseases and Gastroenterology specialty divisions. UVA Children’s, part of UVA Health, has been named the No. 1 children’s hospital in Virginia for the second consecutive year by U.S. News and World Report. The publication’s 2022-23 “Best Children’s Hospitals” named Pediatric cardiology & heart surgery 20th in the Nation.
The successful candidate will be expected to: • Type memos, correspondence, forms, and technical or confidential reports. • Receive and screen incoming calls and mail, answer routine inquiries, and route calls to the appropriate individual. • Maintain calendars. Schedule and confirm appointments, meetings, and travel arrangements. • Review and answer standard correspondence. • Greet and screen visitors and provide customer support, as needed. • Provide Curriculum Vitae management. • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities: • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities: • Familiarity with CV management.
Qualified candidates must have: Education: High School Diploma Experience: At least one year of relevant experience.
Physical Demands: This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
This position is located in Charlottesville, VA, with the option of part-time remote work. The anticipated start date is January 23, 2023. Priority review of applicants will begin January 2, 20223 but the position will remain open until filled. This position is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding and performance. The anticipated hiring range is commensurate with education and experience.
