Job Description
Reporting to the Executive Director for the Center of International Research and Development, this position provides administrative support for a university-wide international office with a multi-million dollar portfolio of grants and contracts, a high volume of foot traffic, and a complex and changing array of programs. Assists in grant proposal preparation and editing, departmental and project communications, and reports. Schedules meetings utilizing Outlook & other scheduling tools. Provides logistical and technical support for meetings, seminars, workshops, invited guests, and national and international travel. Provides support for national and international visitors. Position is the first point of contact for inquiries from around the world and for foreign visitors to campus. Assists with departmental payroll and human resource actions as well as office/facility needs. Processes departmental travel approvals, travel reimbursements, and purchases, and responds to inquiries regarding office services and policies.
Required Qualifications
Strong experience in office administration or program support in an educational, research, or similar environment; demonstrated strong computer skills in MS Office Outlook, Word & Excel; experience administering payroll and human resource action; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a fast paced office with frequent short notice deadlines; ability to plan and organize work independently and collaboratively to deliver products on schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
Competency using various communications technologies; knowledge and experience with university purchasing, travel, and human resources policies and procedures (i.e. HokieMart, Banner, Chrome River, PageUp); travel and meeting logistics experience.
