Job Duties
Chief Judge Decker of the Court of Appeals of Virginia is seeking to fill an administrative clerkship position beginning in August of 2023. The position is located in Richmond, Virginia, although occasional travel to other locations in Virginia is required.
Job duties:
· Manage administrative tasks for the office – this includes serving as the primary point of contact for the chambers, filing and maintaining office documents, and handling reimbursements
· Maintain case management and organizational systems
· Prepare bench briefs and other memoranda
· Copyedit and citecheck opinions
· Substantive review, research, and writing on matters pending before the judge

Minimum Qualifications
· Prior legal or internship experience in criminal, civil, workers’ compensation and/or administrative agency law
· Participation and service on Law Review or other law journal
· Knowledge of the trial and appellate court procedures, systems and rules utilized in the Commonwealth of Virginia
· Proficiency in online legal research and communication (experience using Westlaw is a plus)
· Organizational skills and attention to detail
· Ability to handle a high volume of materials while meeting critical deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation (including graduation in the Spring of 2023) from an ABA accredited law school, or membership in good standing of the bar of the Supreme Court of Virginia or highest court of another state
Applicants should be willing to make at least a two year commitment to the chambers
