Job Description
Virginia Tech’s Advancement Division is seeking a passionate and enthusiastic communications coordinator. Advancement is responsible for engaging with alumni, raising money, and telling the university’s story.
The Advancement Communications Production Coordinator will play a key role in organizing and building content to engage with alumni. This position is a fun, fast paced position where the ideal candidate will work with colleagues across the division, have a keen eye for detail, and be relentlessly organized.
The coordinator will build and proof engagement email marketing campaigns, create chapter postcards, design event collateral, and make updates to engagement websites. The coordinator will also work with print vendors to get estimates and deadlines for projects, and will pull and prepare mailing lists for direct mail.
The successful candidate will be a master collaborator and will work quickly on tight deadlines. The coordinator reports to the director of advancement communications and the ideal candidate will have the ability to problem-solve (both individually and as part of a project team), work independently with minimal guidance, and be a motivated self-starter comfortable with moving quickly.
Required Qualifications
● Strong project management skills, including the ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
● Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
● Working knowledge of basic graphic design concepts.
● Communication, writing, and editing skills and knowledge of AP Style.
● Prior experience working with content management systems and email marketing tools.
● Keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, or a related field or equivalent training and/or work experience.
● Higher education and/or nonprofit experience.
● Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Experience Manager.
● Experience with customer relationship management and project management systems.
● Experience developing, testing, and distributing large email marketing campaigns.
