Job Duties
The Assistant Athletic Director – External Operations provides leadership in external operations within the Athletics Department to include marketing, fan engagement, revenue generation, sponsorships, licensing and serves as a liaison to the Keydet Club. This may include supervising various sports as directed by the AD.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Manages external units and functions including brand management, marketing and sales.
• Responsible for oversight of game-day promotions and experiences to grow fan attendance, connect with the community, and create excitement at home athletic events.
• Supervises in-game elements including PA scripts, playlists, timing sheets, and in-game promotions. Manages the development of revenue generation initiatives including strategic partnerships and external contracts such as multi-media rights, apparel partner, licensing, and merchandising. This may involve working with a multi-media partner.
• Supervises the department’s fan engagement efforts to create a robust gameday experience. Ensures positive relationships between the Athletics department and key stakeholders, to include alumni, the Corps, local community, fans, parents, faculty and other Institute constituents.
• Serves as a member of the athletics leadership team.
• Represents the Department on various Institute and Southern Conference Committees.
• Success in establishing positive relationships with boosters, alumni, students, faculty and staff. Able to work productively with the university and the community.
• Able to foster positive interpersonal relationships and professional image with external and internal constituencies by adhering to customer service standards.
• Demonstrated ability to work with and communicate effectively with student-athletes, coaches and administration.
• Commitment to following NCAA and Conference affiliation rules. Able to maintain sensitive and confidential information. Able to work under tight deadlines with limited resources and multiple competing priorities.
• Provide game management and event supervision as part of the department’s facility/event oversight team.
• Other duties as assigned by the AD.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
• Bachelors’ Degree required.
• Experience in a similar administrative capacity preferred.
• Ability to multi-task, plan, organize and execute day-to-day operations; work under deadlines and maintain a detail-oriented and highly confidential approach
• Ability to prioritize and delegate the flow of work
• Demonstrated computer competency and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere)
• Ability to take initiative in organizing programs, planning events, preparing materials, and interacting effectively with members of the athletic department and the post.
• Effective and professional communication skills, both written and verbal and ability to write and edit, prepare all documents
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a similar administrative capacity preferred.
