Job Description
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will assist in the daily health care of student athletes and Sports Medicine Facility operation under the direction of the Associate AD for Sports Medicine and Director of Athletic Training Services; will work with student-athletes and staff with the prevention, recognition of, acute care for and therapeutic rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses; will record and maintain appropriate medical records; will supervise and work with the Sports Medicine Staff to provide daily practice/event coverage and travel with assigned sport(s); Will supervise and evaluate athletic training students and interns in the clinical setting; will maintain inventory and supplies; will screen and refer injured/ill student-athletes to team physicians; will always represent Radford University and the Sports Medicine Department with the utmost professionalism. Must be willing to travel with assigned sports and provide fill-in coverage for other staff as needed.
Required Qualifications
NATABOC Certification; Virginia Athletic Training License or Eligible; Basic Life Support or CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer.
| NATABOC Certified; Virginia Athletic Training Licensure or eligible (current licensure preferred); BLS or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advance degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine or related field or equivalent education and experience; Experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer in an NCAA collegiate setting; Current Virginia Athletic Training License; Training and experience with the acute management and care of concussions and other sport-related injuries.
