Job Duties

The successful candidate will provide a full range of legal services to assigned agencies and institutions of the Commonwealth relating to public finance, charitable trusts and government operations.

Responsibilities include:

• Representation of assigned agencies in state court and/or ensuring that appropriate counsel is retained to represent the clients’ interests in litigation.
• Review claims against the Commonwealth that name the Comptroller as a party, as well as legislation relating to the Commonwealth’s finance agencies.
• Assist the Attorney General with his statutory and common law authority with respect to charitable assets.

Minimum Qualifications

• Applicants will have excellent analytical abilities and written and oral communication skills and the ability to respond to legal requests in a timely fashion.
• Excellent interpersonal skills are also required.
• Candidates must be highly organized and detail-oriented and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as a team player in covering the work of others when the situation demands.
• Must be admitted to the Virginia State Bar or eligible for immediate admission.

Additional Considerations

Some litigation experience is preferred.
