The University of Virginia Darden School of Business, seeks an Assistant Director of Admissions Marketing, Professional Degree Programs to join its team in Rosslyn, VA.

This position is located in-person in Rosslyn, VA

Darden is a global leader in business education. Based in idyllic Charlottesville, Virginia and growing its footprint in the Washington, D.C. area, the Darden School offers a portfolio of degree, non-degree and Executive Education Lifelong Learning programs. Degree programs include the flagship residential Full-Time MBA format, Executive MBA formats, newly launched Part-Time MBA format and MS in Business Analytics. The School’s professional degree programs (Executive MBA, Part-Time MBA and MS in Business Analytics) are based out of UVA Darden DC Metro, in Rosslyn, from the Sands Family Grounds campus.

The Admissions Marketing team is a unit comprised of members from the Communication and Marketing department who are embedded with the Admissions team. The team’s primary function is to support marketing efforts that drive prospects to engage with Darden, convert high quality applicants across the School’s degree programs and retain admitted students until communication is transitioned to the Office of Student Affairs.

The Assistant Director is responsible for key phases, processes and channels within the prospect and applicant journeys. We are seeking a strategic, proactive and organized individual with demonstrated competencies in marketing and written communications, audience segmentation and the ability to lead nurturing email campaigns, working within CRMs such as Slate, Salesforce or HubSpot.

This position will also assist with Admissions-related activities necessary to identify, evaluate, and select a diverse class of high-quality applicants and students for Darden's Professional degree programs. These activities include but are not limited to prospect conversations, recruitment events (both in-person and virtual), yield activities as well as file reading and applicant interviews (as needed). Higher education enrollment marketing, or B2C experience, and experience in admissions preferred.

This position will be based out of UVA Darden DC Metro in Rosslyn, VA.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

Prospect and Applicant Journey Management and Communications
  • Support the development and ongoing maintenance of the Darden degree program admissions website content, blogs and CRM environment (Slate)
  • Develop and implement audience segmentation and engagement strategies and email workflow campaigns within the Darden CMS (Slate)
  • Support the development and tracking of key performance indicators and the creation of reports
  • Assist with the production, execution and management of online degree program recruiting events, including webinars, virtual fairs, web-based chats and interactive video conferences
  • Produce e-newsletters, email workflows and blog content for multiple degree program segments and audience and support


Admissions Recruitment and Application Reading
  • Read and evaluate applications for admission to Darden’s Professional Degree Programs (as needed)
  • Interview Part-Time MBA and Executive MBA applicants on Grounds and via Zoom (as needed)
  • Represent Darden at various alumni and prospective student events, MBA forums/fairs, and other events, including yield activities both domestically and internationally
  • Serve as a liaison to current students and program alumni and coordinate their involvement with recruitment and yield efforts


Cross-functional Alignment and Coordination
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with multiple staff peers within Communication & Marketing and Admissions and degree program student contributors


Education and Professional Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of relevant experience required
  • Knowledge of CRM platforms, audience segmentation (Slate preferred)
  • Experience with web-based applications, including blogs, social media and CRM systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong organizational ability
  • Ability to think both strategically and creatively
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a high-performing team with excellent initiative and judgment
  • Ability to prioritize shifting projects and initiatives in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrates self-motivation
  • Strong technical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to interview potential applicants
  • Willingness to travel as necessary. Position requires some evening and weekend work, as well as domestic and international travel
