Position Overview The primary purpose of the Assistant Director of Annual Fund & Donor Experience position is to manage special events designed to actively engage alumni and donors with VCU Athletics and the university through the recognition, cultivation, stewardship and solicitation opportunities inherent in these events. Under the supervision of the Director of Development & Annual Fund, the incumbent will manage the operation and financial management of these special events, serving as the department liaison to coaches, staff, and other campus units. This position will provide general supervision to student support staff and athletics development graduate assistants. Additionally, the Assistant Director of Annual Fund & Donor Experience will personally manage stewardship efforts for VCU Athletics donors, including RAF benefit fulfillment and sport specific booster program benefits in conjunction with other VCU Athletics development staff.
Minimum Hiring Standards:
- Bachelor's degree or training and experience that equates to a Bachelor’s degree; - Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU; - 1-2 years of experience working in a Division-I intercollegiate athletics program; - Knowledge of fundraising principles, practices, and trends, preferably in a university setting; Project management skills; - Analytical and critical thinking skills, including skill in creative and effective decision-making and problem identification/avoidance/resolution; and - Written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all organizational levels and with outside constituencies.
Preferred Hiring Standards
- An advanced degree or training and work experience at a level that equates to an advanced degree; - 1-2 years' experience in fundraising, preferably at the NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics level; and - Demonstrated knowledge of donor management software.
