The Division of Infectious Diseases and International Health at the University of Virginia is seeking a tenure-ineligible Assistant or Associate Professor of Medicine on the Clinical Faculty track, with experience in Hospital Epidemiology to serve as Assistant or Associate Hospital Epidemiologist. We are particularly interested in candidates who have relevant clinical training and research interests in Hospital Epidemiology and Infection Prevention. Rank will be dependent upon qualifications.
The successful candidate will:
Assist with developing and managing practices, policies, and procedures for the University of Virginia (UVA) Health infection prevention and hospital epidemiology
Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission, State and Federal Regulatory requirements Direct initiatives to prevent healthcare associated infections and transmission of healthcare associated pathogens
Collect and analyze data on infection control
Perform telephone triage of patient care such as the special pathogens unit
Perform other activities in partnership with the Director of Hospital Epidemiology/Infection Prevention and Control
Additionally, there will be clinical duties that include inpatient Infectious Disease consults, the outpatient Infectious Disease clinic, and potentially telehealth consults and other clinical opportunities.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Candidates must have an MD or equivalent and be sub-specialty board-certified or board-eligible in Infectious Disease by appointment start date. The candidate should also possess outstanding clinical, technical and interpersonal skills, and training from top-rated institutions. The candidate will need superb communication skills to work collaboratively with UVA Health leadership.

This is a restricted position; continuation is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance.
