Assistant or Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences

The Department of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia is seeking a tenure-ineligible Assistant or Associate Professor to join its clinical faculty withintheBehavioral Medicine Center. Primary responsibilities will include providing outpatient, empirically-based psychological services (e.g., diagnostic assessment and intervention) toindividualsdiagnosed with a wide variety of medical and psychiatric disorders.

Depending on the applicant’s areas of expertise, opportunities may exist to work with diverse patient populations from multiple clinical services, including but not limited to, bariatric surgery, sleep medicine, pain management, adult neurology, oncology, and transplant. The remaining time will be spent in the training/supervision of psychology fellows, practicum students, and/or psychiatry residents. Opportunities to engage in collaborative research may exist based on availability and applicant’s interest.

Candidates must have a PhD/PsyD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program. Postdoctoral experience in Health Psychology is preferred. Preference will be given to those with experience providing empirically-based psychological interventions with medical populations, consulting with medical staff, and performing medically-specialized psychological evaluations. Candidates must be license-eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia and must be licensed by date of hire. Candidates must also be board certified or eligible for board certification from the American Board of Professional Psychology.

This position may be eligible to convert to tenure-track at an appropriate time in the future, consistent with SOM Promotion and Tenure guidelines and candidate qualifications.
