Job Description:
Longwood University has an open faculty position in the Graphic and Animation Design program. This is a full-time, tenure-track position starting August 2023. We are seeking a skilled professional with experience in a wide variety of disciplines including motion graphics, 2D animation, and graphic design. The candidate should be someone with an industry background who can use his or her professional experiences and technical proficiency in the classroom. Preference will be given to those individuals who can teach classes bridging graphic design, motion graphics and animation/simulation. We are looking for a professional who can provide leadership and develop student's awareness of story, design, audience and collaboration within a production environment. The Graphic and Animation Design program applies a unique approach to educating future designers and animators, preparing our students for careers in the industry by simulating professional experiences within a classroom setting.
Requirements:
Preferred Qualifications:
A terminal degree (MFA or equivalent) in Motion Graphics, 2D Animation, or Visual Effects. Industry experience also preferred.
Proficiency in industry software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Cinema4D, Maya, 3ds Max and Sketchbook.
Ability to work collaboratively with fellow program faculty.
Demonstrate a commitment to mentor and teach students through experiential learning and using a variety of instructional methods in order to ensure student success.
Responsibilities include teaching four courses per semester, advising, department and university committee participation, and scholarship.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, tenure-track instructional faculty position. Salary will be commensurate with credentials and experience. Commonwealth of Virginia benefits accompany this position.
