The Department of Pathology at the University of Virginia seeks an Assistant Professor of Research position in the laboratory of Dr. Hui Li. The broad areas of interest in Dr. Li's lab include: cancer, gene regulation, abnormal splicing, developmental biology, and evolutional biology. The Assistant Professor of Research will work independently on the projects, spending approximately 90% of the time conducting experiments and analyzing data, 5% on training graduate students, and 5% on writing manuscripts and grants. It is expected that the person will report research progress regularly in lab and collaborative meetings, present results and solicit input at local, national, and international conferences in the form of posters or oral presentations, and prepare figures and text for manuscripts with the PI's input.
To be considered for this tenure-ineligible position, applicants must have a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D degree in Cancer Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular biology or a related area in hand at time of start date with a strong publication record in these areas. 5 years of experience in the related field is also required.
