The Salem District maintains more than 9,200 miles of roads in southwestern Virginia in the counties of Bedford, Botetourt, Carroll, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Henry, Montgomery, Patrick, Pulaski, and Roanoke. The district serves more than 650,000 citizens in these counties and the 14 cities and towns in its boundaries.
Assist the Residency Administrator or Resident Engineer to ensure the coordination, integration and management of VDOT resources that impact the Residency program. At the Residency Administrator's discretion, may serve as the focal point for services and primary contact or liaison for local governments on activities that impact the local geographic region. Manage resources allocated to the program to accomplish the objective.

Minimum Qualifications
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. • Valid driver's license. • Skill in the use of computers and software applications. • Considerable knowledge of roadway construction and maintenance operations, equipment, materials and techniques. • Considerable knowledge of federal and state rules, regulations, and policies as they relate to transportation. • Skill in maintaining effective relationships and building teams.
Additional Considerations
• A combination of training, experience, or education in Civil Engineering or related field desired. • Professional Engineer license or Engineer in Training. • Experience leading and supervising others. • Experience in the management of transportation programs and projects of varying complexity. • Experience in budget development and administration using automated financial software systems.
