Summary To provide overall program administration and development for the VCU Injury and Violence Prevention Program, whose mission is to reduce and prevent injuries through ongoing education, research, and community outreach throughout the central Virginia region. This position will oversee all content areas to include community violence, sexual and intimate partner violence, substance use, risky decision making, older adult falls prevention, and additional areas of injury prevention as evidenced by hospital and community data. This position will provide direct supervision of the IVPP management team and indirectly supervise the case management, advocacy and other programmatic staff. Additionally, this position will lead the training and technical assistance initiative at the local, state and national levels. Furthermore, it will assist with coordination, design and implementation of all IVPP activities in collaboration with the research arm of IVPP.
Typical Duties
Research and identify new government, corporate, foundation and private funding prospects Generates proposals and supporting documents in response to solicitations Generates revenues for programs and services through timely submission of well researched, well written and well documented Grant/fundraising proposals If required, supervise other consultants hired for specific writing purposes Writes reports to government, corporate, foundations and other funders Acts as liaison with program staff (if needed) Serves as a liaison to all funding agencies or organizations (if needed) Engages with program officers at organizations to solicit invitations to submit proposals Special projects as needed Works with research and evaluation team to monitor and assess performance of IVPP programs in relation to stated program objectives. Responsible for data, grants management and other reporting. Lead planning activities for IVPP to include long-range and short-range planning. Leads and assists with development and implementation of long and short-term goals for IVPP Serves as the main point of contact for IVPP for internal and external stakeholders Collaborates with existing local, state and national organizations in the injury prevention field Identify community organizations that serve victims of all injury and violence and collaborate with these organizations through interagency agreements, joint service planning and participation in organizations’ meetings Attend conferences and meetings and the local, state and national levels Participate in training and professional education related to injury prevention Is the petty cash custodian for IVPP to include monthly reconciliation and reimbursement in accordance with the guidelines of VCU Treasury Department Directly supervise the IVPP management team to include the IVPP Programs Coordinator, program managers for Project Empower, Bridging the Gap, GR-ACY, IMPACT, Falls Prevention and other content managers as developed. Provide oversight of all IVPP team members through the indirect supervision of approximately 25+ direct service staff Serve as main point of contact to participating hospitals and funder for technical assistance related to IVPP to include coaching calls and one-on-one virtual coaching Create training materials to be distributed to participating hospitals Organize site visits and shadowing opportunities between IVPP and participating hospitals Lead the development and implementation of educational materials and curriculum. Provide content expertise to participating hospitals Assist sites with program development Provide as needed assistance to sites Act as faculty member for the Health Alliance for Violence Intervention (The HAVI) - national HVIP organization- by providing TTA at the national level to hospital-integrated and hospital-linked programs
Required Education and Experience
Master’s Degree in a health related profession with a public health related focus strongly preferred.-At least one year experience developing, implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of community benefit programs to include surveillance, identification, intervention, measurement and evaluation of program effectiveness.-Experience with developing and implementing health promotion and prevention coalitions and community collaborative partnerships..-Experience working with the public and good communication skills necessary.-High level proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Adobe and scientific software.-Excellent written and oral English skills coupled with expert grammatical and proofreading skills applied in a scientific and research development environment.-Able to lead projects and facilitate groups..-Experience with grant-writing, literature review and data analyses.-Ability to work in a diverse environment required
Preferred Education and Experience Experience with developing and implementing health promotion and/or injury prevention activities..-Experience with public presentations
