Tenure Track Associate Professor of Education (Administration and Supervision)
The School of Education and Human Development (EHD) at the University of Virginia invites applications for a tenure-eligible faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor in Administration and Supervision in the Department of Leadership, Foundations, and Policy. The program is ranked in the top 10 nationally and is seeking an additional team member to implement programs in Administration and Supervision. We are seeking an exceptional scholar with work that bridges theory, research, and practice who views training a new generation of leaders as means to create school transformation.
Duties and responsibilities include collaborating on the design and delivery of core licensure courses and advanced leadership courses for the M.Ed. and Ed.D. degree programs. In addition, the incumbent is expected to conduct scholarly research, provide research mentorship experiences, and generate external funding for scholarship.
The A&S program seeks a faculty member whose research centers on the preparation of educational leaders and/or the impact of leadership in schools, including a scholarly focus on issues related to systemic equity and social justice. Key areas of scholarship may include: leadership policy and law, family and community engagement, adult growth and learning, and/or improvement research.
The School of Education and Human Development offers a rich intellectual and collaborative environment for researching the preparation, development, practice, and impact of educational leaders. Opportunities for collaboration, partnership, and research are available through the K-12 Advisory Council, a 125-district outreach initiative sponsored by EHD; as well as a range of partnerships with several K-12 Virginia school divisions and the Virginia Department of Education. Several well-established research centers at the School offer additional collaboration and research opportunities in educational policy (EdPolicyWorks), research on teaching and learning (CASTL), and adolescent development and well-being (Youth-Nex). The UVA Partnership for Leaders in Education (UVA-PLE), a joint venture of the UVA Darden School of Business and EHD, presents sustained professional learning for district-level leaders to implement systemic change. The School and University provide excellent infrastructure for research administration and federal and foundation grant preparation, and opportunities for formal involvement in leadership-related initiatives across the University, such as at the Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy and the Darden School of Business.
