As of Academic year 2020-2021, our college was the 6th largest in Virginia’s Community College System - enrolling 9,652 credit seeking students and 1,100 non-credit seeking students. We are proud of our award-winning faculty, our nationally accredited and professionally recognized academic and training programs, and strong dual enrollment and early college programs, powerful partnerships, and our student success outcomes. This college epitomizes its mission to change lives and transform communities.

The associate vice president will have unique opportunities to lead at an institution that celebrates strong relationships with our PreK-12 public and private schools, four-year colleges and universities, local and multi-national business partners, workforce councils, chambers of commerce, social service and community-based organizations, and many local military partners. The associate vice president assists the vice president in articulating and emphasizing the College mission, goals, values, and priorities throughout the college community, and works collaboratively within the academic affairs department and college community to achieve institutional objectives. The infusion of diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout these strategic goals will advance the College’s mission and further realize our vision for broader and more equitable service to our students and community. The associate vice president will embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion in all its forms as a college-wide value, including an understanding of implicit bias, anti-racism, and the fostering of equity-minded learning environments.

The associate vice president must have experience with strategic planning, budgeting, instructional resource allocation, assessment, and accreditation. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills and a commitment to and appreciation of diversity as well as civic and community involvement are required.
