The primary purpose of the Athletics Business Manager position is to continually monitor and reconcile the budgets associated with all athletic facilities and events, keep track of all athletic facility related receivables, manage accounts payable and payments to all vendors/services for all facility staff, process purchasing requests for all facility related expenditures and to provide record-keeping support for all athletic facilities under the direction of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. The position will also prepare all facility budgets on an annual basis. Additionally, this position is responsible for generating weekly and monthly budget reports for all Athletic Facilities, serving as the travel coordinator for Facilities personnel, updating and maintaining the Siegel Center website, and other duties as assigned by the Senior Associate AD for Facilities or the Senior Associate AD for Finance.
Minimum Hiring Standards:
Bachelor's degree;
Work experience in a university setting, preferably within a Division I collegiate Athletic Department;
Knowledge of budgeting, accounting, purchasing, and personnel policies and procedures;
Ability to analyze and interpret data required for financial statements and reports;
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment;
Ability to use Banner & RealSource for finance applications;
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Ability to work independently, to exercise judgment and make decisions;
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills;
Knowledge of and strong record of accuracy in word processing and database applications (Microsoft Office);
Ability to supervise meetings and special events as needed; and
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Hiring Standards:
An advanced degree or work experience and education equivalent to an advanced degree;
Three to five years of experience in a business office within a collegiate athletic department environment;
Familiarity with athletic facilities and event operations; and
Strong knowledge and understanding of budgeting and procurement regulations.
Salary Range: Up to $60,000
