The Athletics Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (“DEI”) Coordinator supports the vision, management, and planning of all DEI initiatives for the VCU Department of Athletics. Working closely with the Athletics Chief Diversity Officer, the Athletics DEI Coordinator will promote diversity, equity and inclusion efforts for the department’s student-athletes, coaches, and staff and in support of VCU Athletics’ strategic plan . The ideal Athletics DEI Coordinator will have a passion for the principles of inclusivity, and will help generate creative ideas to make VCU Athletics better: easier to access, with fewer barriers, more welcoming, and a greater sense of belonging. The Athletics DEI Coordinator must have a deep commitment to confidentiality, a proven commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles, be detail-oriented, highly motivated, and have a proven track record of taking initiative and multi-tasking.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or training and work experience at a level that equates to a Bachelor's degree; Minimum of two years related experience in the area of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external constituencies. Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure. Ability to manage multiple projects with specific deadlines and adjust to changing priorities in a professional manner. Strong organizational and project management skills. Ability to use initiative and independent judgment to accomplish results. Demonstrated judgment, discretion and tact. Ability to work independently and with a team. Strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree or or training and work experience at a level that equates to an advanced degree; Previous experience working within a Division I intercollegiate Athletics Department.
