Bed Coordinator (Charge Nurse), Women’s and Children’s Health - R0081883

In a highly specialized academic medical center, the coordination of patient flow is critical to delivering safe, timely, and exceptional care. This role places you at the center of clinical operations for Women’s and Children’s services, where your leadership directly impacts patient outcomes, staff efficiency, and the overall care experience.

As a Bed Coordinator (Charge Nurse), you will blend clinical expertise with operational oversight, serving as the hub between units, providers, and care teams. This is an opportunity for an experienced nurse to expand their influence beyond the bedside and play a vital role in patient placement and care coordination across high-acuity pediatric and women’s services.

The Role:

This is a dynamic leadership position where you will oversee the coordination of patient admissions, transfers, and bed placement across Women’s and Children’s units. You will collaborate closely with nursing teams, physicians, and hospital operations to ensure optimal patient flow in a complex, fast-paced academic environment.

In this role, you can expect to:
  • Serve as the central point of coordination for patient placement, ensuring appropriate bed assignments based on acuity and clinical need
  • Collaborate with NICU, PICU, pediatric, and women’s services teams to balance capacity and patient care priorities
  • Provide real-time decision-making and clinical oversight to support safe, efficient patient care.
  • Function as a charge-level resource, supporting staff, resolving operational challenges, and escalating concerns when needed
  • Partner with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient flow, minimize delays, and enhance patient experience
  • Maintain strong situational awareness of unit capacity, staffing, and patient acuity across multiple service lines
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, communication, and high reliability

The pace is fast, the decision-making is critical, and the impact is immediate. Your ability to anticipate needs and coordinate across teams will directly influence both patient outcomes and operational success.
