Position Overview
The Benefits Compliance Administrator is a key member of the VCU HR Benefits Administration team. Core responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to: * Ensuring compliance with defined benefit and defined contribution limits in the calculation, remittance, and reconciliation of retirement plan contributions. * Administering the review and updating of plan documents to comply with applicable regulatory and legislative provisions. Recording and maintaining contribution appendices as stipulated in the plan documents * Administering Mistake-of-Fact and other contribution adjustments, including calculations and reclassifications * Designing and conducting structured program audits and risk management activities * Preparing and certifying Affordable Care Act data for the state health benefits program. * Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with payroll and HRIS to implement benefits calculations, deductions, remittances, and control mechanisms in the VCU enterprise systems. * Providing customer service to participants for problem resolution to elevated retirement and health and welfare. * Interfacing and collaborating with external vendors and managing the vendor relationships. Minimum Qualifications
* Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with administering 401(a) and/or 403(b) public sector/governmental qualified defined contribution plans, including calculating and applying limits and ensuring plan document compliance. Knowledge of and experience with administering governmental 415(m) excess plans and nonqualified 457(f) deferred compensation plans preferred. * Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with Affordable Care Act compliance activities, including measurement, reconciliation, and reporting * Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with applying benefit program provisions and collections in HR and payroll systems, and ensuring compliant operation. * Ability to analyze and interpret human resources policies, regulations, and laws applicable to benefit programs and incorporate requirements into compliant operations. * Ability to conduct program audits and implement risk management activities College degree in a human resources or business related discipline or equivalent training and/or experience. * Proven comprehensive understanding and demonstrated implementation of public sector retirement and welfare plans. * Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications
* CEBS or SHRM certification * 3-5 years in a benefits compliance role at the supervisory level preferred
