The University of Virginia is seeking a Building Automation System (BAS) Service Supervisor for Facilities Management. Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic, and patient care programs. With over 1,200 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair, and maintenance of UVA’s buildings, infrastructure, and grounds, in addition to managing capital construction and renovation for university-owned and leased properties.
Position Summary:
FM’s Automation Services Department installs, maintains, and optimizes the building automation system (BAS) infrastructure throughout the University. Automation Services is seeking a Service Supervisor to oversee the daily frontline operations and maintenance of the building automation systems (BAS) throughout the University. This person must possess extensive knowledge and experience in the installation, repair, maintenance, and operations of BAS components which control commercial HVAC systems, cold storage monitoring, and other critical building systems. BAS Service Supervisors are working supervisors who provide routine oversight of building automation technicians in performing installations, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing of electric, electronic, electro-mechanical equipment, and controls. BAS Service Supervisors provide direction during new equipment installations and special projects. They are responsible for maintaining and updating the preventative maintenance program. They manage the performance and assign tasks to building automation technicians. They receive managerial guidance on significant purchases and some planning initiatives. They must also possess proven ability to lead a team and be effective in collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes. BAS Service Supervisors oversee the maintenance of the building automation systems to ensure accurate data collection, safety, comfort, and compliance are maintained throughout the University.
Responsibilities:
Ensure building automation system components are installed, programmed, calibrated, and maintained according to specifications/department standards.
Delegate assignments and ensure work is accomplished in a timely manner.
Prioritize maintenance schedules and staffing needs.
Develop, update, and enhance the preventive maintenance program.
Provide coaching, mentorship, training, and field support for technicians.
Oversee performance management and safety compliance for direct reports.
Oversee and maintain service inventory.
Implement team mission and vision. Lead, and assess small teams with a motivational approach.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: Requires seven years of experience with demonstrated experience leading and mentoring other I&C technicians.
Licensure: May possess recognized controls industry certifications or licensure in one or more trades.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ten plus years of overall HVAC and/or BAS experience highly desired.
Compensation:
The Anticipated Hiring Range for this position is $35.00 - $39.00 per hour ($72,800 - $81,120 Annually). Actual starting salary dependent on applicants’ education, skills, and experience.

Physical Demands:
