As a Cardiac Cath Technician in UVA Health's Cardiac Transition Unit (CTU), you will be an essential member of a collaborative cardiovascular care team. Working alongside experienced nurses and providers, you will support patients through critical phases of care while utilizing advanced skills that go beyond those found in many traditional technician roles.

The Role

The Cardiac Transition Unit is a unique environment that cares for patients recovering from cardiovascular procedures and preparing for discharge. This role combines hands-on patient care, technical expertise , and close collaboration with nursing staff in a fast-paced setting where every team member plays an important role .

In a typical day, you will support patients and the care team through responsibilities including:

  • Drawing blood specimens and assisting with diagnostic testing needs


  • Starting IVs and maintaining vascular access


  • Obtaining and documenting vital signs, intake and output measurements, and patient weights


  • Ambulating patients and supporting safe mobility


  • Performing site checks and monitoring procedural recovery areas


  • Pulling sheaths and assisting with specialized post-procedural care


  • Partnering closely with the assigned RN to ensure seamless patient care and communication


  • Supporting patient flow and helping maintain efficient unit operations

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent.

Experience: No experience required.

Licensure: American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods and frequently bending/stooping/traveling. Ability to lift/push/pull > 100lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

The pay range for this role is $15.68 - $24.30 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
