The UVA Career Center engages and supports students in the discovery and pursuit of meaningful lives.
Career Fellows in the UVA Career Center will provide a variety of services including, but not limited to, student-facing engagement and support, event management/logistics, and procurement for the department. The Career Center’s three-fold strategy of exploration, connection and experiential learning requires all team members to be adept at direct student service, program development and execution and alumni connections for students. Direct service delivery includes individual career and small group advising, large group presentations, programs and workshops. Industry and career community research, outreach and programming are also significant parts of the positions. This individual will perform other office and University duties as assigned. Some evening and weekend work is required. This is a two year term.
The Career Fellow's administrative responsibilities include event planning and tracking, technology/platform support, and stakeholder communication. The Career Fellow will work independently on assigned tasks and in support of stakeholder requests.
The Career Fellow also:
Acts as a liaison between students, staff, and potential employers by drafting professional correspondence, posting student and alumni internship and job announcements, distributing specific program information, and coordinating schedules and calendars when appropriate.
Updates external website and internal intranet sites by compiling significant information, key dates, and upcoming events related to students and staff.
Assists in event planning for major events such as pop-up advising, experiential learning programs, special population programs, and career fairs. Detailed event planning responsibilities may include researching venue options and making reservations, planning menus and processing catering orders, designing publicity materials, and managing communication among vendors.
Processs purchase orders, travel reimbursements, and payment vouchers. Reconcile Purchasing Cards and check requests according to University guidelines.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement. Experience: At least two years of experience.
The anticipated hiring range for this position is $44,000. The position is open to some Hybrid work but is primarily in person, on-Grounds (1 day/week remote) with some night and weekend work.
