General Information:

The Clinical & School Psychology doctoral program in the Department of Graduate Psychology at James Madison University (JMU) is seeking a professional psychologist to join the core faculty of its innovative, APA-accredited program in Clinical and School Psychology in August, 2025. This 10-month, tenure-track position will be filled at the assistant professor level.

The Clinical and School Psychology Program emphasizes intensive, integrative training and scholarship with high-quality students who already possess at least a master’s degree. The program mission is “to produce leading health service psychologists who are broadly trained in the science and practice of psychology, actively self-reflective, optimally prepared to work in a wide variety of settings with diverse clientele, and demonstrably committed to an ethic of personal responsibility, social awareness, and global engagement.” The program is highly collegial, collaborative, and self-reflective and enjoys excellent administrative support. Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include teaching two doctoral-level practicum courses each semester, which include supervising students’ comprehensive clinical assessment and therapy cases onsite at the JMU Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) Clinic and chairing and serving on dissertation committees. Other responsibilities include service to the department, college, and/or university which may be tied to the clinical role. Additional scholarship contributions are welcomed but not required. The individual in this position will also have opportunities to engage in interprofessional education and training initiatives.

 

Qualifications:

• A doctoral degree from an APA-accredited program in Clinical, Counseling, School Psychology, or Combined-Integrated program
• Licensed as a Clinical Psychologist
• Licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in Virginia, or ability to obtain Virginia licensure within six months of the start date
• Evidence of supervising doctoral students in comprehensive clinical assessment and therapy
•Demonstrated professional practice experience after receiving doctorate (post-internship)
•Demonstrated competency in cognitive and personality/social-emotional assessment administration, scoring, report-writing, and feedback delivery
• Demonstrated competency in evidence-based psychotherapy and clinical supervision
• Experience serving clients in assessment and/or therapy across the lifespan
• An ability to successfully supervise students in research and scholarship
• An ability to work collaboratively within organizations and to advance relationships with off-campus constituencies
• Excellence in teaching, scholarship, and/or professional service, including commitment to and enactment of inclusive excellence across these dimensions of work
• Exceptional skills in communication and interpersonal relations, and in providing developmental feedback and support to students to promote growth
