**This is a non-exempt, hourly position without benefits, eligible to work up to 1,500 hours annually (May 1 – April 30). ** 

Job Duties

Reviews, examines, and processes unemployment (UI), Trade (TRA/RTAA), and Special Program claims.

Reviews and reconciles reports that document employer account charges and reimbursements. Obtains information required to ensure timely and appropriate processing of claims.

Works with claimants, employers, and/or other parties to obtain information and/or documentation to verify eligibility status and/or resolve problems or issues regarding UI benefit claimant payments and/or employer charges.

Conducts research, reviews claim requests, and initiates corrective action to resolve claim problems.

Provides administrative and programmatic support, maintains confidential claim files, prepares reports, and responds to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

Provides mentoring and training to staff and performs system testing, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Basic knowledge of claims processing; basic accounting and cash management principles; and office operations.

Strong customer service, claims examination and processing, data entry, and communication (oral and written) skills.

Ability to perform detailed work related to the tracking and resolution of claims and employer charges; collect and analyze information to make determinations; prepare and reconcile reports; record and enter information into a database; interpret and apply program requirements; work independently and as a member of a team; respond to inquiries and provide technical assistance; and prioritize work load and meet deadlines.

Additional Considerations

Working knowledge of the UI benefits eligibility and claims process.

Experience working with VEC programs and processing claims and charges; entering and reviewing data in a mainframe and PC based system environment (such as VUIS or related systems); reviewing claims; and working with UI benefit and/or Trade programs.

Proficient in Microsoft software (e.g., Excel and Word), OneDrive, and similar software programs.
