Clinic Based Pharmacy Technician 2, Family Medicine

Provides pharmacy services in a specialty area under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner. Demonstrates advanced technical skills and ownership for the work area.

• Works independently in clinic area with little oversight
• Collaborates with providers, nursing team members, access staff and other clinic team members to improve patient care
• Completes prior authorizations on behalf of providers in the clinic
• Works with providers and patients to submit applications to manufacturer patient assistance programs
• Assists with medication access questions/issues
• Participates in projects as needed for patient-centered medical home accreditation
• Serves as liaison between clinic and UVA pharmacy locations
• Seeks additional training opportunities and innovative ways to improve patient care and advance the pharmacy technician role
• Triages and escalates any questions outside of the pharmacy technician scope of practice to the supervising pharmacist
• Supports the training of new employees and participates in the creation and maintenance of training materials
• Follows policies and procedures consistently

Position Compensation Range: $20.68 - $32.05 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent
Experience: 6 months of relevant experience required
License/Certification: Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration required. CPhT credential through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) orPharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required. For team members hired prior to February 1, 2020, certification as CPhT through NHA or PTCB is required by January 31, 2022.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull less than 20lbs.
