Job Description
The Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center (EMC) in Leesburg, Virginia, part of the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech, invites applications from qualified individuals for a full-time, calendar year non-tenure track position as a Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor of Equine Emergency and Critical Care. Salary and faculty rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The duties of this position have an emphasis toward clinical service responsibilities in all aspects of equine surgery including shared after-hours emergency coverage. The successful candidate will participate in veterinary student experiential learning and intern and resident clinical training. Opportunities for didactic teaching are available. Scholarly activity and participation in collaborative research corresponding to a non-tenure track faculty position will be expected.
Applicants must be committed to excellent patient care, exceptional client service and strong referring veterinarian relationships. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and an enthusiasm for providing the highest standards of patient care. Participation in continuing education and outreach activities that promote the reputation of the EMC is expected.
A demonstrated ability to be innovative, flexible and adaptable in a busy hospital environment is highly desirable. Required Qualifications
DVM or equivalent degree; Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC); excellent communication skills and interpersonal interactions; must be eligible for a Virginia Faculty Veterinary License by appointment start date.
Preferred Qualifications
Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) or Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM); advanced clinical experience; experience in teaching; and demonstrated record of scholarly activity.
