The University of Virginia's Department of Student Health and Wellness, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is looking to hire a Clinical Care Manager.
We are a growing center seeking applicants who would like to join our team during this exciting time of expansion. Part of this growth involves expanding our care model to serve an increasingly diverse student body. Competitive candidates will have experience and interest in working with first generation college students, international students and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) students. Expertise with LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning) populations is also highly desired.
Job responsibilities include:
Offer care management and consultation, helping students to access a range of services to best address their mental health concerns. This includes meeting with students to help them find resources, navigate financial and other barriers, and coordinate care among multiple systems.
Update referral and other community resource databases.
Manage and coordinate donations for Next Steps Fund, which provides initial funding to help students connect with mental health services in the community.
Network with community providers and agencies.
Conduct phone screenings to assess students’ mental health needs and provide guidance in connecting with care.
If applicable, provide group psychotherapy and workshops.
Carry a small caseload of ongoing individual therapy cases.
Along with other clinical staff, serve in the daytime emergency consultation rotation, assessing and triaging students in crisis and consulting with university partners about student mental health concerns.
Complete documentation requirements that adhere to legal, ethical and accreditation standards.
Coordinate with other CAPS providers, Student Health and Wellness sections and treatment teams, Student Affairs, Student Financial Services, Academic Deans, Housing and Residence Life, International Studies Office, and other University staff.
Provide afterhours on-call coverage (approximately three shifts lasting 2-3 days each per semester).
Create and offer culturally inclusive community outreach (including care management workshops and trainings).
Potentially supervise or offer didactic seminars or lectures for therapists-in-training.
We seek individuals who are collaborative in nature, have effective communication skills, practice good self-care, maintain healthy boundaries, and can manage a busy workload while promoting a positive relational and organizational atmosphere.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A Master’s Degree or Doctorate in Counseling, Clinical/Counseling Psychology, or Social Work
Licensed as a Mental Health Professional (LPC, LCSW, Psychologist) in the Commonwealth of Virginia (or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of hire)
At least 3 years of experience providing clinical care management services to adolescents and/or adults.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Experience working on a college or university campus
Experience leading psychotherapy groups
Experience providing outreach and speaking to diverse audiences
Experience supervising therapists-in-training
A clear history of, and dedication to, providing mental health services to individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
Experience in crisis intervention and/or facilitating transfers to a higher level of care.

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
