Job Description:
Mountain Gateway Community College (MGCC) is a two-year public institution of higher education and one of 23 community colleges in Virginia. The college is supported by the Commonwealth of Virginia; the counties of Alleghany, Bath, Botetourt (northern portion) and Rockbridge; the cities of Buena Vista, Covington, and Lexington; and the town of Clifton Forge. Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and experienced Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to student success. As a CNA Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to prepare students for a rewarding career in healthcare.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver engaging lesson plans and curriculum based on state and federal guidelines.
  • Teach classroom and hands-on skills training to students, ensuring they acquire essential CNA competencies.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Maintain a supportive and positive learning environment that encourages student participation and growth.
  • Stay current with nursing practices and state regulations related to CNA training.
  • Collaborate with Program Head to ensure program effectiveness and compliance.
  • Assist students in preparing for the CNA certification exam

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • General Practice: Minimum of three (3) years of concurrent, active clinical nursing practice.
  • Long-Term Care Focus: Minimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experience, with at least one (1) full year of direct client care or supervisory experience in a long-term care environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students.
  • Knowledge of current CNA curricula and certification requirements.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.



Additional Considerations:

Previous teaching or training experience is a plus.
