Communications Specialist (Hybrid)

Starting Salary Range: $51,418 - $65,000

The State Corporation Commission (SCC) Information Resources Division (IRD) seeks a Communications Specialist to join our team. The Communications Specialist will create and implement engaging content and communications across social media, internal, and external channels to support the communications strategy of the SCC. The SCC offers a flexible hybrid work schedule, on-the-job training, and professional development opportunities. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Planning, creating, and publishing engaging social media content for the SCC’s consumer education and public awareness initiatives. 
  • Designing and producing graphics and visual assets for use across social media and other digital communication channels. 
  • Editing and producing short- and long-form videos optimized for social media platforms. 
  • Monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on social media performance metrics to identify trends and recommend content improvements. 
  • Researching, verifying, and translating complex regulatory and technical information into clear, consumer-friendly communications. 
  • Developing and maintaining consistent brand voice, tone, and visual identity across social media and other external communication channels. 
  • Assisting with creating content for external SCC communications. 
  • Developing and maintaining consumer education materials such as news releases, newsletters, web and blog-style content, flyers, promotional pamphlets, brochures, booklets, and other communication materials. 
  • Maintaining the SCC's brand standards across all communication platforms. 
  • Assisting with coordination of outreach to news media and the public. 
  • Managing and updating distribution lists for news releases and other distributed materials. 
  • Performing related work as required.
