The UVA Bookstore at University of Virginia is currently accepting applications for a Retail Operations Specialist. Seeking a highly organized, detail individual who can communicate effectively with all levels of individuals often in a fast paced environment.
The incumbent must be able to successfully assist with course materials requests in a variety of formats (Physical and Digital) with efforts geared towards growing the textbook business by assisting both students and professors in finding the best course materials options to meet their needs through the UVA Bookstore. The individual will work independently on projects with publishers, students and professor but communicate information to the textbook team in a timely and clear fashion.
Responsibilities:
Communication with students, professors and publishers in both verbal and written formats.
Answer all emails on a timely basis.
Create and maintain spreadsheets for Inclusive access titles.
Follow up on any backordered books to include communication with Professors about the delay.
Provide exemplary customer service and handle increasingly complex inquiries
Supervise receipt and stocking of supplies.
Make adjustments to or investigate inaccuracies in book orders
Perform all general duties of retail specialist, which may involve neatness, changing tags, conducting out of print book searches, locating items and assisting customers with inquiries.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: At least three years of retail experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Excel/Outlook/Zoom
Experience with LMS in a higher education setting a plus
Strong Communication and interpersonal skills both verbal and written, in a multi-faceted customer demographic environment is a must
Experience with independent project execution with an emphasis on clear communication to textbook team.
This position is located in Charlottesville, VA.
