Job Description:

Tidewater Community College has served South Hampton Roads – both students and employers – for 50 years. It has grown from 1 campus into a regional educational and economic force. TCC is the largest provider of higher education and workforce services in Hampton Roads, enrolling nearly 28,000 students in 2019-20. Founded in 1968 as a part of the Virginia Community College System, Tidewater Community College (TCC) services South Hampton Roads with 4 campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach, 7 regional centers and 2 important cultural institutions. The college had 3,203 graduates in 2019-2020, 40 percent of whom pursued degrees that would let them transfer to 4-year institutions. Of South Hampton Roads residents enrolled in higher education 36% enrolled at TCC. TCC’s institutional accreditation is affirmed through 2027 by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

This position will serve as a primary resource to faculty and administrators in developing,
modifying and maintaining college curricula in multiple formats; ensuring the college's academic curricula are published, communicated, and recorded accurately and consistently to constituents. The position also receives and prepares faculty qualifications for review and approval, and ensures approvals are recorded accurately in databases and the Student Information System. This position also provides administrative support to the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and works with other Academic division staff to achieve Academic Affairs and College organizational objectives.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database software effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to use email, Internet, and web-based applications effectively.
  • Significant experience in keying, viewing and translating faculty, course, and curriculum-related data in a Student Information System within higher education, preferably People Soft.
  • Significant experience providing effective customer service.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and successfully and to meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to create, organize, key, edit and proof large documents and publications
  • accurately.
  • Ability to use other office equipment (printer, copier, FAX, phone, paper shredder).
  • Ability to apply policies and procedures as they relate to assigned job functions.
  • Microsoft Office certifications or experience with Microsoft Office products, especially Access database.
