Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,200 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair, and maintenance of U.Va.'s buildings, infrastructure, and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties.
The Custodial Services Supervisor is responsible for providing a clean and healthy environment for the University Academic and Health Systems Facilities by supervising up to 20 employees in performing safe and critical housekeeping tasks. The Supervisor maintains department expectations of providing high quality and consistent service by supervising, scheduling, and training the work force. The Supervisor maintains positive and professional relationships with facility occupants, staff, colleagues, students, visitors, and department leadership.
This position requires a current driver's license.
Duties Include:
Develop and implement housekeeping work schedules for assigned areas. Maintain written records of work scheduled and completed.
Supervise members of housekeeping team and provide them with frequent and constructive feedback.
Ensure all required housekeeping projects are completed in a timely, professional manner.
Track purchases and update inventories.
Conduct and submit routine safety inspections.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in housekeeping or another service industry is required. Four or more years of experience in housekeeping, including the ability to demonstrate use of cleaning equipment and supplies, with experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity is highly preferred.
Licensure: A valid driver's license, with a zero or positive points balance is required and must be maintained while in this position.
Physical Demands:
This position works around equipment/machinery, and includes standing on different surfaces, walking extensively, stooping and bending as well as moderate lifting and climbing stairs.
The selected candidate will need to complete the following background checks: Criminal, Sexual Offender and DMV. The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $21.00-23.50/hour. This is a full-time position with UVa benefits . Employees benefits package highlights include:
