Located in the heart of historic Abingdon, Virginia, VHCC provides great university transfer and workforce education programs for students from Washington and Smyth counties, the City of Bristol, and the surrounding region. Responsibilities: Responsible for coordinating a range of engagement activities that result in constituents developing new/deeper bonds with and a greater affection for the mission of the College and the Educational Foundation to increase funding and engagement. The primary areas of responsibility for this position will be:
Work with the Vice President to plan, implement and evaluate a comprehensive grant, categorical funding, and contract (sponsored programs) procurement effort focused on college priorities.
Directly responsible for college-wide sponsored programs procurement in the public, private, and non-profit sectors – from concept and pre-proposal storyboarding through writing, award negotiation and award management.
Manage the Foundation’s student assistance and scholarship programs, from both the student and donor perspective.
Maintain a fundraising portfolio of corporate, foundation, and individual prospects, communicate with current and prospective donors to build relationships and secure donations, sponsorships, and other support.
Plan and implement promotional/special events and coordinate event-day logistics.
Meet annual sponsored programs and fundraising goals per the development strategic operating plan.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requirements:
Successful history of professional achievement related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Demonstrated experience in successfully securing grants, categorical funding, and/or contracts from public and private sources.
Fundraising, development, or grant management experience preferred.
Experience with DonorPerfect or equivalent database system preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
The successful candidate will show evidence of the ability to:
Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree.
Work independently in a fast-paced environment; have organizational abilities with fluency in managing multiple projects and competing priorities.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing including proper use of grammar, spelling, punctuation, editing and proof reading.
Results-driven with highly developed interpersonal, conversational and presentational skills, demonstrating an emotional intelligence and situational awareness.
Prioritize tasks and utilize front-line decision-making skills to problem-solve.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, and experience with CRM or database systems.
Maintain a high level of ethics and confidentiality in performance of all job duties.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders important to the college.
