Southeastern Virginia Training Center is hiring for multiple, part-time (no benefits) Direct Support Professional's to join our team. The Direct Support Professional provides a variety of support services for adults with intellectual disabilities. These positions will implement daily training programs and behavior support plans.

About the Role
These positions are considered essential personnel and would be required to work in the event of an emergency or facility need. All SEVTC positions are required to work different shifts and/or overtime as requested.
Work within a person-centered educational model to provide support, educational/training, and supervision of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
Run training programs; administer medications; collect and record pertinent data and complete required documentation
Contribute to and maintain an environment that is supportive of individual choices, enriching, homelike, safe and nurturing for people with disabilities
Support and instruct individuals in a range of daily living skills including self-help, personal hygiene, independent living, and social development
Monitor leisure time, recreational, social and activities of choice
May be supporting individuals receiving emergency stabilization services
Drive facility vans to transport individuals
Shift Differential is available for the following shifts: 1st shift weekend $3.00/hr. 2nd shift weekday $2.50/hr. weekend $3.00/hr. 3rd shift weekday $2.25/hr. weekend $3.00/hr.
All new hires must successfully complete the facility’s Pre-service training program for Direct Support Professional Staff, to include Person Centered Approach techniques, CPR/First Aid Certification, TOVA, medication administration, nutritional management and physical/behavioral management, for continued employment. (Preservice training class is 12 days long 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and one day 2p-10p).
Position numbers W0080, W0101, W0093, and W0026 will be filled from this posting.
These wage positions are limited to working no more than 1,500 hours during the 12 months of May 1 – April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12 months. This wage position offers no state benefits.
Skills and experience required:
We seek candidates with experience working with individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities. We also seek the following:
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Must be dependable, accountable, and reliable
Must have ability to work a flexible schedule
Must have ability to work with an integrated team
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
Must have active, valid driver’s license
Bonus points if you have:
Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, and other disabilities
Prior experience working with medically fragile individuals
Prior experience as a Direct Support Professional, a Certified Nursing Assistant, or similar role
Demonstrated experience working with electronic medical records
