Job Description:
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs, the director provides leadership and vision for the newly established Center for Excellence and Innovation in Teaching and Learning (the Center) at Laurel Ridge Community College to advance the college’s institutional mission and goals and position the college as a dynamic and innovative center of learning in the region. The director is responsible for developing strategies, services, and resources for faculty and staff in support of effective and evidence-based teaching practices, curricular and instructional design, innovative uses of educational technology, and best practices in distance learning and student engagement to ensure equitable outcomes for all students. The director is responsible for establishing the Center as an organizational hub that fosters collaboration with campus stakeholders engaged in academic and student support, assessment, and professional learning.

Compensation and Benefits
The hiring range for this position is $74,895.00 – 80,000.00 per year, however, actual starting salary will commensurate with education and/or experience. The position is an administrative role and as such is eligible for the benefits package offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia for state agencies and the Virginia Community College System. Telework
According to DHRM policy 1.61 Teleworking, effective July 5, 2022, Virginia state employees will return to the workplace. Consistent with pre-pandemic policies, telework may be an option for certain eligible positions. Eligible positions are determined by the type of work and job requirements of the position, as defined by heads of agencies. Positions requiring more than two days of telework weekly will require approval from the Department of Education’s Cabinet Secretary. Positions requiring more than two days of telework weekly require approval from the Office of the Governor’s Chief of Staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Education, Education Administration, Instructional Technology, Instructional Design or related field Or, Master’s degree in an academic discipline
  • Considerable experience and knowledge of teaching and learning pedagogy and/or implementation and management of distance education programs.
  • Knowledge of distance learning modalities, compliance, and regulatory requirements of distance education and uses of various educational technologies.
  • Considerable experience in development, implementation, and delivery of instruction through direct teaching experience at the college/university level.\
  • Experience leading academic and/or administrative initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in building positive and collaborative relationships with diverse constituencies college wide.
