Provides leadership and oversight of UVA Medical Center’s OR business operations.
Directs, implements, coordinates, and evaluates the business operations for Perioperative Services, including but not limited to surgical scheduling, EMR data integrity, charge capture, administrative and payroll support, statistical, performance and managerial reporting, decision and budget support, capital planning, and process improvement.
Works closely with physicians, leadership and team members to continuously improve the safety, effectiveness, efficiency, patient-centeredness, quality and timeliness of healthcare delivery.
Supports a customer-focused centralized surgical scheduling model that maximizes utilization of the operating rooms and patient progression across the four Perioperative locations and other Medical Center sites where anesthesia care is provided.
Responsible for establishing and managing to a set of consistent key performance metrics used to analyze the overall performance of Perioperative Services; evaluates areas for improvement, collaborates with physician and Medical Center leadership and team members to implement corrections as needed and provides feedback on the result of those changes.
Develops and ensures adherence to department's annual budget in partnership with clinical leadership. Leads financial analysis and planning including monitoring and reporting on monthly budget variances and opportunities to improve performance.
Partners with physician, clinical and supply chain leadership to minimize supply chain disruptions, maximize supply variance reduction and monitor contractual obligations. Develops and maintains vendor relations to ensure compliance with service expectations.
Provides project leadership for ongoing process improvements, system enhancements and software implementations. Responsible for facilitating a culture that embraces and utilizes industry-leading process improvement techniques.
Supports renovations and expansions of Perioperative Services space.
Assists in the development and maintenance of operating procedures and policies in accordance with the Medical Center’s mission and values and the University’s strategic plan.
Member of the Perioperative Executive Steering Committee, Leadership Council and several other subcommittees.
Implements department human resources actions, including hiring, terminations, training and performance management.
Responsible for leading, managing and motivating a high-functioning team built on collaboration, transparency and trust, in order to obtain high levels of performance and employee engagement, developing team members with succession planning in mind.
Detail-oriented work ethic, with strong communication, project management and analytical skills.
Will represent the Administrator, Perioperative Services in key meetings, where back-up coverage is needed.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Position Compensation Range: $130,416.00 - $208,665.60 Annual
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree in relevant field; masters of business or healthcare administration within four years of hire.
Experience: Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in business operations including healthcare settings with five years of leadership experience.
Licensure: N/A.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
