The Director of Sports Science / Football reports to Chief of Staff / Football and is responsible for the strategic direction and coordination of a comprehensive multi-disciplinary sport science program. Collaborate as part of a Performance Team (Sports Medicine, Sports Nutrition, Strength & Conditioning, Sport Psychology, and Sports Science) to help reduce the risk of injury and enhance athletic performance. Develop and maintain athlete monitoring database (AMS). Collaborate with sport coaches and staff on information needed to guide daily decision making for performance and health. Explore and implement the latest technology for the advancement of student athlete performance and health. Utilize statistical analysis of performance variables to identify strengths and deficits with the goal of creating novel insights that will help garner competitive advantages. Recruit and develop fulltime and part-time sports science staff. Management of sports science budget. Maintenance and inventory of sports science technologies.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree and/or bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field with relevant experience.
Significant experience in a high-performance environment specializing in athlete performance monitoring, data collection and reporting.
Experience working with collegiate, professional and/or elite athletes.
Experience with collection and interpretation of athlete performance data.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional certification in strength & conditioning.
Experience collaborating with sports nutrition, sports medicine, sports performance, and behavioral health personnel as part of a performance team.
Demonstrated excellence in statistical analysis of performance science metrics.
Experience in developing and maintaining large athlete monitoring database (AMS) for team and individual sports.
Current AED/CPR/ First Aid Certification.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Demonstrated experience working cooperatively within team settings.
Experience working within a high performance collegiate/university setting.
