Job Description

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Civil Rights Compliance and Prevention Education, the Director of Title IX Compliance serves as the Title IX Coordinator for Virginia Tech.
The incumbent will lead all Title IX compliance efforts for the university. Through a comprehensive compliance and education program, the Director of Title IX Compliance ensures Virginia Tech upholds its institutional commitment to an environment free from gender-based harassment, discrimination, and sexual misconduct. The incumbent will manage and oversee the response, investigation, and resolution of reports of sexual misconduct. In doing so, the Director works collaboratively with campus partners with shared responsibility for response and adjudication, providing oversight and guidance. The position provides leadership oversight to staff who provide support measures, conduct investigations, and provide outreach and education to the campus community. The position works with a great deal of autonomy and serves as the institutional expert and spokesperson on issues related to Title IX, gender discrimination, sexual harassment, and gender-based violence.

The position will manage and oversee the provision of assistance and support to pregnant and parenting students. The position has responsibility for coordinating compliance with relevant provisions of the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013, the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistic Act, and NCAA Governors Policy on Campus Sexual Violence.

As the institutional Title IX compliance officer, the position aids in the response to Title IX reviews and audits conducted by federal agencies.

The position is eligible for telework but requires onsite presence to provide visible on-site presence at student focused events and activities, respond to walk-ins in the CRCPE office, accommodate requests for in-person meetings, conduct in-person trainings, assist in campus outreach events, provide for onsite meeting availability, and to conduct onsite assessments.
