The Director, Respiratory Therapy role models transformational leadership and is responsible for overseeing the operations and finances of defined departments, evaluating manager and employee performance, demonstrating customer satisfaction (internal and external), strategic and operational planning, program development and quality assurance/performance improvement. The director serves as a leader and mentor both within the department and throughout UVA Health. This individual demonstrates clinical expertise, role models effective inter-professional collaboration and communication and maintains a strong collaborative relationship with department medical director(s) and other leaders throughout the organization.
Fosters a work environment which promotes inter-professional collaboration, effective communication, team member engagement and retention, and professional growth and development both within assigned departments as well as throughout the organization and community served. Effectively manages human resources.
Actively participates in the evaluation, creation, and implementation of policies and procedures to integrate current scientific evidence with standards of practice. Ensure internal and external regulatory standards are met or exceeded.
Ensure human, space and material resource allocation aligns with department needs. Engage with key stakeholders to develop plans to address resource deficits/surpluses in the ever changing health care field.
Continually assess and improve the department’s performance in all areas to include, yet not limited to, customer service, quality clinical care and financial goals. Accountable for achieving clinical outcomes as defined by national standards and the organization's strategic plan.
Participates in leadership activities to support the strategic plan of the Medical Center.
Accurately forecasts and manages budget for the department(s).
Assures development of and participates in programs which address continuous quality improvement and system enhancements.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Position Compensation Range: $91,312.00 - $146,099.20 Annual
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree required; Masters degree must be obtained within 1 year of hire or transfer. Experience: 5 years of supervisory/management experience and clinical experience in Respiratory Therapy required. Tertiary experience is preferred. Licensure: Licensed to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Applicable specialty and/or administration certification strongly preferred at hire or within 3 years.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
